In the month of September 2020 there was an average weekly increase of just over 1% compared to the same weeks in 2019. Over the month of August and September with Auckland being in level 3 lockdown and then coming out of lockdown, the Ruapehu District has followed the overall New Zealand trend.

Number of jobseeker support recipients

The number of Jobseeker Support recipients increased 21%, from 576 in March 2020 to 699 in September 2020.

Trade Me job advertisement index

The change in the number of job advertisements on Trade Me showed that results returned to above those in February 2020, after being lower in recent weeks.

Value of building consents issued

There was a decrease in both residential and non-residential consents. Residential consents decreased to $18 million, down from $20 million over the same period. While, non-residential consents $7 million in the year end August 2020, down from $12 million for the year end August 2019.
