Electronic card spending

The change in the amount of electronic spending shows larger variations over time for the Ruapehu district, following an exaggerated uncertainty of the overall New Zealand trend, returning to normal levels at the end of December. However, there has been a drop in spending at the beginning of 2021, likely due to the lack of international tourists during this holiday period.

Number of jobseeker support recipients

The number of Jobseeker Support recipients in the Ruapehu District increased 27%, from 571 in April 2020 to a new peak of 724 in November 2020. In contrast, the number of Jobseeker Support recipients in New Zealand increased 56% over the same period.

Trade Me job advertisement index

The change in the number of job advertisements on Trade Me showed that results returned to well above those in February 2020, after being lower in recent weeks, spiking at over 250 at the start of November but has returned to normal levels at the end of November.

There was a decrease in both residential and non-residential consents. Residential consents decreased to $16 million in the year end November 2020, down from $23 million for the year end November 2019. While, non-residential consents $9 million in the , down from $14 million over the same period.
